Sweetened naturally with peaches, chopped dates, applesauce, and a touch of maple syrup, this scrumptious dessert has under 16 grams of sugar per 236-calorie serving.

The taste alone should inspire you to whip up this plant-based dessert, but what's even better is that it's made from whole-food ingredients. It also takes under 10 minutes to prepare, and is even faster if you use frozen peaches.

If you love apple crisp, this recipe has half the sugar and is lower in calories and fat. The peaches are sweet enough — you won't even miss the sugar! This peach crisp tastes delicious on its own or served with a dollop of whipped coconut cream or homemade berry banana nice cream is sugar-free.

Low-Sugar Vegan Peach Crisp

Ingredients

  1. 4 cups of peaches, (about 5 to 6 fresh or a 16-ounce bag of frozen)
    1/4 cup chopped dates or raisins
    1 1/2 cup rolled oats
    1/4 cup white whole wheat flour (or substitute a gluten-free flour like oat flour)
    1/4 cup chopped pecans
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
    2 tablespoons creamy almond butter
    3 tablespoons maple syrup

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Lightly spray a 9x6 or 8x8 inch pan with cooking spray.
  2. Add the peaches to the prepared pan.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix together the oats, flour, pecans, cinnamon, applesauce, almond butter, and maple syrup.
  4. Spread the oat mixture evenly over the peaches.
  5. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until the fruit is bubbling and the top is golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool for 15 minutes before serving.
