Oh, pizza. The delicious comfort food that you can top with almost anything. Whether you get a pie for family game night, when you have friends over, or to cure your hangover, it always tastes amazing. But if you have leftover pizza in the fridge, you've probably wondered more than a few times just how long it should stay in there before you need to toss it.

According to food safety expert Janilyn Hutchings, StateFoodSafety food scientist and certified professional in food safety (CP-FS), pizza will stay good in the fridge for three to four days. To help ensure freshness, Hutchings suggests storing it in an airtight container rather than refrigerating it in the box it came in.

If you know you will not be able to eat it within the three to four day range, an alternative is to freeze it. "Technically, frozen foods are safe no matter how long they stay in the freezer, but food quality does start to decrease after a certain amount of time," Hutchings said, adding that frozen pizza should stay good for one to two months.

So, there you have it! The next time you order a pizza and have a few slices left over, just make sure you eat them in the recommended time. After all, cold pizza is freaking delicious too, right?
