Steve Martin as Roger Stone SNL Cold Open Jan. 2019

Steve Martin Returned to SNL As Recently-Indicted Roger Stone: "Pardon Me?"

On Jan. 26, Saturday Night Live's timely cold open featured veteran comedian Steve Martin as recently-indicted Roger Stone. Martin portrayed President Donald Trump's former aide during a interview with Tucker Carlson (played by Alex Moffat), and they discussed the seven charges against Stone.

SNL's Carlson attempted to steer Stone toward a narrative of self-pity and frailty. "The pity thing . . . I'm a poor, helpless old man. I'm 66, I'm almost as old as Sting!" Martin's Stone said. He ended his remarks with a bold request for the president: "Pardon me!" Watch the full skit above, which also included Kate McKinnon as Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross and Cecily Strong as Jeanine Pirro.
