1 What Is "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew" About?

Watts teased the show's plot during Star Wars Celebration. "It's a story about a group of kids, about 10 years old, from a tiny little planet who accidentally get lost in the Star Wars galaxy," he said during the event. "And it's the story of their journey trying to find their way home." Watts added that centreing the series around kids will offer fans a "different perspective" of the Star Wars universe that we haven't seen before.

However, Filoni made sure to emphasise that "Skeleton Crew" will be just as dark as the other Star Wars series. "It's as much of a kids show as 'Clone Wars.' And I'm like, we cut people's heads off in 'Clone Wars,' so I'm not sure that's the best measure," he said.

3 When Does "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew" Take Place in the Star Wars Timeline?

"Star Wars: Skeleton Crew" is confirmed to take place around the same time as "The Mandalorian," "Ahsoka," and "The Book of Boba Fett," meaning it's set five years after "Star Wars: Episode VI — Return of the Jedi." This period is significant since it's in between the fall of the Empire and the rise of the First Order.

4 "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew" Release Date

"Star Wars: Skeleton Crew" will premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2023. An exact release date has yet to be revealed, but it'll likely arrive late next year, considering the third season of "The Mandalorian" is confirmed to hit the streaming service in February. "Ahsoka" is also set for a 2023 release. Although it doesn't have an exact premiere date either, a trailer for the series was shown at Star Wars Celebration, meaning it'll likely arrive before "Skeleton Crew," which reportedly just started filming in June.
