Andy Cohen Talks About His First Moments as a Dad

Andy Cohen Opens Up About Being a New Dad: "I Kind of Have No Words For It"

As a television personality, one would think that there aren't too many things that could leave someone like Andy Cohen speechless. But after the birth of his son Benjamin Allen on Feb. 4, even he was left with very few words to describe the feeling of being a new dad. The Watch What Happens Live host recently covered an issue of PEOPLE, where he revealed the first official photos of his baby boy and opened up about his few first moments in the delivery room. "He was so alert for the first two hours," he said. "His eyes were wide open. He didn't cry, he was just calm. I kind of have no words for it."

The 50-year-old Bravo host announced that he was going to be a dad during an episode of Watch What Happens Live back in December. He announced the birth of his son two months later via a sweet Instagram photo of himself holding the newborn. While talking to PEOPLE, Cohen spoke about his experience finding a surrogate and briefly expressed his gratitude to the woman who carried Benjamin for him.

"I worked with an incredible surrogate," he said. "She was in California. Surrogacy is illegal in so many states, including New York. I don't understand why. It's a voluntary process, obviously. My surrogate just viewed it as, she was giving me the ultimate gift. She gave me life. So I'll be forever indebted to her."
