Bode and Morgan Miller Speak Out About Daughter's Death

Bode Miller Warns Parents to Be Vigilant Because of How "Unbelievably Quick" Drowning Happens

Bode Miller and his wife, Morgan Beck Miller, are still in mourning over the tragic death of their 19-month-old daughter, Emeline, after she drowned in a neighbour's pool last month. In an exclusive interview on Today, the grieving parents spoke out about how pool-related accidents can happen in a blink of an eye, in the hopes that no other parents have to go through what they are.

"I can attest from first-hand experience now that it's unbelievably quick and it's unbelievably sneaky," Bode said of drowning incidents. "You'd think it would be like some weird circumstance or some strange thing, and it's not. It just happens in the blink of an eye."

"A child under 30 pounds can drown in 30 seconds," Morgan said, admitting that she keeps replaying the situation over in her head. "And I just keep counting to 30 in my head. That was all I needed."

The grieving mom took the time to urge other parents to ensure that their child's environment is safe, regardless of where they are. "Survey the home to see if it's a safe place for your child to be," she said.
