Mom Makes Daughter Crazy Rich Asians Dress

This Little Girl's Mom Made Her a Replica of the Dress From Crazy Rich Asians For the Best Reason Ever

Ha Truong, a mom of two from Miami, has been patiently waiting for Crazy Rich Asians to hit theatres. In fact, she was so excited for the first movie with an all-Asian cast to be made in 25 years that she celebrated by making her 5-year-old daughter Olivia a replica of the dress Constance Wu wears in the movie's trailer. She posted the results to Instagram — and her phone immediately began blowing up with "like" after "like."

The dedicated mama used eight yards of tulle to make the dress in just two hours. And while Ha doesn't claim to be an expert sewer by any means, she said it was a big moment for her as a Vietnamese-American — and she wanted Olivia to get in on the fun ASAP.

"Being an Asian-American, oftentimes you don't 'see' that Asian part of yourself in America, and neither do your peers," Ha told POPSUGAR. "Crazy Rich Asians is proof — hope — that representation matters. It's refreshing to see someone on the big screen my daughter and son can relate to."
