MMA fans in the UK got quite the surprise watching the Bellator 206 event in the early hours of Sept. 30, and no, it wasn't the surprise of watching their favoured fighter take the win. The main event, a much-anticipated fight between Gegard Mousasi and Rory MacDonald, aired live from San Jose, CA at 10 p.m. PT, or 6 a.m. in the UK. Because of government regulations, however, the fight, which was airing on Channel 5 for audiences ages 15 and up, promptly switched to an episode of the children's show Peppa Pig once the clock struck 6.

Now I don't know anything about MMA fighting, but I do know about Peppa Pig, and that she's the damn worst (and to be honest, this sounds like the sort of thing she'd brag about ruining). So I can only imagine the outrage UK fans experienced after staying up all night or waking up super early just to catch this one exciting fight.

Scott Coker, Bellator CEO, explained that normally the event is only five fights, but because they pushed it to six, the entire event went over the allotted three-hour mark, rolling into regularly scheduled programming — AKA programming safe for young viewers who wake up at the crack of dawn ready to watch cartoons.

"Honestly, we thought we would be way off the air before the three-hour mark. It just didn't happen and we ran over and Peppa Pig took over, that's what happened," Coker said in a press conference. "When they switched over, there were a lot of texts going back and forth and they all were not friendly. We were trying to fix it, we thought it was a technical glitch. I can promise you that the next time, it will not happen."

Check out some of the most hilarious Twitter responses from angry and confused fans below (and join me in uncontrollably giggling at all of this because LOL Peppa is the best worst show that could have come on instead of a high-energy MMA match).
