Tia Mowry Shares Postpartum Selfie, Admits "I Thought Something Was Wrong With Me"

Often, celebrities who post selfies of their postpartum bodies think they are being relatable by sharing a not-quite-flat tummy. What they might not realise is that their "struggle to bounce back" to their svelte prebaby bodies is still a vastly different experience from most women's – that their starting points are most of our goal lines. Tia Mowry's latest Instagram post, however, was a refreshing reminder that some celebs are just like the rest of us.

Seven weeks after welcoming a baby girl, the Sister, Sister star shared a full-body selfie on Instagram alongside a message about how her own unrealistic expectations. She too felt like something was "wrong" with her when she paged through magazines and didn't look like the "women on the beach a few weeks postpartum in a two-piece" bikini.

"Some pregnant women after giving birth no longer have a belly after seven weeks," she wrote. "While others, it may take a little while. Me, I'm the latter."

In her powerful post, she continued:

I remember after giving birth to Cree, my belly didn't all of a sudden go flat. I did have a C-Section (as well as with my second pregnancy), and I thought something was wrong with me. I had seen in magazines the many women on the beach a few weeks postpartum in a two piece. To be honest, it had to take time for me to embrace my new body. With this second pregnancy, I now have embraced that fact that I've housed a human being. A miracle. A life. If it takes a while for me to get back to my normal self, than so be it. This. Is. Me. And I love me.

Let her post be a reminder to all of us to be kinder to our bodies.
