Video of Canadiens Carey Price Surprising Boy at NHL Awards

You’ll Be in Tears With This 11-Year-Old as His Hockey Hero Surprises Him at the NHL Awards

As an incredibly huge hockey fan, it's not just delusion to say that it feels like the NHL community is your family — including your team's players. Anderson Whitehead, an 11-year-old Montreal Canadiens fan, found out just how wonderful the hockey community can be when he met his idol, Canadiens goalie, Carey Price, not once, but twice. The first time they met was at a game back in February, and it was facilitated by his mother, who unfortunately lost a battle with cancer in November 2018.

After that touching meeting (see video below), Anderson and Carey's video was awarded the NHL Fan Choice Award for Best Feel-Good Moment of the Year, and the 11-year-old was invited to receive that award at the 2019 NHL Awards in Las Vegas this month. Once on stage with the presenter, Swimsuit model, Camille Kostek, Anderson was told that there was another surprise for him, and Carey Price appears on the big screen behind them with a "special message" for the young superfan.

But of course, as all good surprises go, there was more. It turns out Carey Price was actually at the awards, and he stops his message mid-sentence to greet the boy out on stage — and Anderson completely dissolves into tears. The goalie consoles him, and tells Anderson he has a gift and a question for him. Watch the full video of the sweet moment above — but grab yourself a tissue first.
