As a Mom of 2, I Want to Thank Hilary Duff For Her Candid Post About Her Chaotic Morning
I'm a mom of two young kids, and trust me when I say I don't need a reminder of just how hard it is to manage sometimes. That doesn't mean I don't live for those moments when someone else appreciates that struggle, and today that someone is Hilary Duff.
The actress has been living that mom-of-two life for a few months now, thanks to 6-year-old son Luca and 2-month-old daughter Banks. Yesterday morning, however, was "the first day I had two kids on my own on a school morning," she wrote in an Instagram post.
That experience gave her a newfound appreciation for just how exhausting parenting can be.
"Breastfeeding and making breakfast, getting two kids and myself dressed and packed and out the door while tripping over four dogs and feeding the damn fish was not easy," she wrote. "But I did it. And I'm proud of myself! I'm proud of every mom out there who MAKES IT FREAKIN' HAPPEN. All day! Every day!"
I am pretending the next part of the caption was written expressly for me: "You are the shit! Bad ass, super goddess, world taker-oner and you deserve to be praised."
Like any resourceful mom, she didn't end it there. She shared a little tip for what made her morning work in the hopes that another parent could put it to good use.
"Laying outfits out for me, baby, and Luca was essential," she said. "I even got five minutes to do some makeup . . . then turned around to see Luca had used my lipstick as warrior paint on his face."
As a mom who's been there, Hilary, that's still a win.
