Kristen Bell on How Dax Shepard Got Kids to Stop Cursing

Kristen Bell's Youngest Daughter Learned the F-Word, And Dax Shepard "Had the Best Response"

Kristen Bell revealed that her five-year-old daughter reached one of the lesser-celebrated developmental milestones: she said her first F-word.

"They've known it before," Kristen said on the Strahan, Sara and Keke talk show about her two kids' awareness of curse words. She admitted that she and husband Dax Shepard "don't edit ourselves very well," and that when the kids ever said a bad word, "we've been the type of parents who never react."

Unfortunately, their intentionally unfettered attitude backfired when Delta came home from school "saying that her friends had said a lot of the F-word." As Kristen recalled, her oldest daughter Lincoln had some concerns. "She looked at me and said, 'Wait a minute, you never told me f*ck was a bad word!' And then it opened up a whole discussion."

This time, it was Dax who took what could have been an awkward moment and distilled it down into a way his two daughters could understand.

"Dax has yet again the best response," Kristen recounted. "He says, 'Listen, you're a kid. There are a lot of things you can't do until you're an adult. One of them is drive my car. One of them is drink alcohol. Vote. And say swear words. It's as simple as that.'"

She added: "And you cannot argue with that. They were like, 'OK, fine.'"

F*ck, that's some solid parenting advice!
