Mandy Moore announced her pregnancy to the public by sharing gorgeous black-and-white Instagram photos of herself and husband Taylor Goldsmith cradling her growing baby bump. The actress, however, went a decidedly sneakier route when breaking the news to Taylor's family, and she shared the entire relatable story on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
Grinning from ear to ear, Mandy first gushed that she's "very excited" to be welcoming her first child, a baby boy who's expected to arrive sometime in early 2021. She and Taylor decided to reveal Mandy's pregnancy on his mother's birthday, and they wound up momentarily insulting Mama Goldsmith by giving her a card that read "Happy Birthday, Grandma" with no other explanation.
"She read the card and was like, 'Oh, thanks,' a little insulted, I think, that we were calling her grandma," Mandy explained. Seconds later, Mandy's husband swooped in to alleviate the confusion by plopping an ultrasound picture before his mom, and it finally clicked. "I've never heard a human being make the sound that she made," the star said of her mother-in-law's elated reaction to the news of becoming a grandmother.
Note to self: if you're planning to announce your pregnancy in a similar way, maybe include the ultrasound picture in the card from the get-go.
