Bobbi Brown Hydrating Skin Tint Review

When it comes to finding the right base makeup, I feel like Goldilocks more often than not. I need a product that isn't too heavy or too light, something that's long-wearing but still washes off at the end of the day, and a formula that doesn't cling to dry patches or break me out. Essentially, I need something "just right."

I've tested my fair share of different foundations, and it isn't often that I find one that checks off all of my boxes. Usually, I have to settle for a product that does most of what I want, but not everything. Then I made a new discovery that delivers it all. Hydration? Check. Long-lasting coverage? Check. Zero acne breakouts? Double check. Allow me to introduce you to the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Hydrating Skin Tint SPF 15 with Hyaluronic Acid (£38).

The name may be a mouthful, but it's worth learning in full. I've been testing the formula out for a little over a month now, and it does everything it claims to do — and not to toot my own horn, but it looks damn good, too. Keep scrolling for my full review of the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Skin Tint.

About the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Skin Tint

  • This skin tint offers sheer coverage with a natural finish.
  • Key ingredients include antioxidant-rich cactus flower to fight off free radicals as well as vitamin E, hyaluronic acid, and shea butter to moisturise.
  • It boasts an SPF of 15, but you'll want to layer it on top of sunscreen with at least SPF 30.

What I Like About the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Skin Tint

Bobbi Brown Hydrating Skin Tint Review

I have dry, acne-prone skin, and typically when testing out new makeup I look for products that won't cling to dry patches or exacerbate breakouts. The first time I tested this skin tint, I immediately loved the way it felt. The texture is lightweight, almost enough to be called watery, but somehow not in a bad way. The finish looks natural — like my skin but better — which is always my goal when looking for good base products.

Also, although SPF is a key ingredient, I don't find that it feels greasy on my skin whatsoever. It's relatively weightless, and by the end of the day, I usually forget I'm wearing it because I don't experience the typical tight or dry feeling I often associate with wearing base makeup.

Although the coverage is sheer, it is slightly buildable. I feel fine wearing this on my no-makeup makeup days as well as the nights when I'm going out for multiple hours, but I prefer products that don't offer a ton of coverage.

How to Use the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Skin Tint

The brand recommends using either a foundation brush or your fingers to blend the product and distribute it evenly onto the skin. I typically apply the skin tint straight onto my face and then blend everything out using the Tarte The Buffer Brush (£19). Then, I go over everything with a damp beauty sponge. Although I prefer to use a brush for application, recently, on a bachelorette trip, I realised I forgot my foundation brush at home, so I applied the product to my skin and rubbed it in using just my fingers. I found that it blended in well and I actually got a bit more coverage from doing it this way.

What to Consider Before Trying the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Skin Tint

If you're looking for a full-coverage or even medium-coverage foundation, know that this product isn't that. I find it's great for everyday wear as well as going out because I don't typically wear a lot of makeup or have much to cover up on my skin, but if you're looking for something to cover dark spots or acne, I'd recommend something with more coverage.
