Over the last year, I've put a lot of time and effort into healing my hair. I've spent years dyeing it and using hot tools, and it's left me with a lot of damage that has been difficult to repair. I've tried laying off the flat iron and instead using heatless hair hacks, and have even used essential oils to help it grow. I also count on hair masks because they are the quickest way to add shine and softness. I recently started using a product that's not only affordable, but has also worked wonders, and I felt that it was finally time to share.
The Elizavecca Cer-100 ($8) is a collagen-infused hair protein treatment that promises to detangle and hydrate damaged and over-processed hair. It's formulated with keratin (the naturally-occurring protein found in the hair) and collagen derived from pigsand is made for all hair types and textures. I first learned about it through TikTok, because users on the platform were saying it was a dupe for a popular protein-based product that's double the price. When I looked it up on Amazon, I found that it had over 35,000 reviews, and more than 23,000 of them were five stars. I hit "add to cart" immediately.
I have fine hair that is dry from the mid-lengths to the ends, but oily at the roots. I try to only wash it twice a week at max because I've been trying to get it in good shape after years of over-using hot tools and dyeing it. I have my "hair cycling" routine down pat, but I'm always looking for new products to try that might change my hair for the better.
The first time I tested it out, my hair was six days dirty and in desperate need of a wash. Following the directions on the back of the box, after shampooing in the shower, I used a microfibre towel to soak up excess water. While my hair was still damp, I applied a quarter-sized amount the protein treatment from the roots to the tips. The consistency wasn't as thick as a typical hair mask, but instead felt more like a conditoner. The brand recommends letting it sit anywhere from five to 20 minutes, so I left it on for the full amount while I shaved and exfoliated my body. I then rinsed it out with tepid water and skipped using conditioner entirely. The directions didn't say I needed to do that step, but I wanted to see how it left my hair feeling without the help of conditioner.
When combing through my hair after the shower, the first thing I noticed was that it felt silky smooth, despite the fact that I skipped out on conditioner. As I dried it using a blowdryer and round brush, I couldn't believe how soft it felt. This product made my hair feel like I had just left the salon. It was glossy, bouncy, and felt amazing.
Since my first use, I've also tried it out on air-dried hair, since that's when it's typically the softest, and it's cut down on frizz while keeping it looking fresh at the same time. At just $8 for 3.38oz, I definitely think this product is worth the price tag. A similar product on the market right now runs about $30 for 3.3oz, and after testing both, I can confirm that the results are pretty much the same — softer, more manageable hair that has lots of shine.
I will continue to use the Elizavecca Cer-100 weekly in my hair-care routine, and it's something I'm recommending to all my friends and family. I've only used it a few times, but I can already see what a difference it's made in the health of my hair.
