Popsugar Celebrity Twitter Reactions Budweiser Tribute Video For Dwyane Wade Our Eyes Are Full-On Sweating From This Emotional Dwyane Wade Tribute Video 9 April 2019 by Perri Konecky Dwyane Wade is a three-time NBA champion, an NBA finals MVP, and an Olympic gold medalist, but his impact off the court will be remembered just as much as his scoring records. The 37-year-old baller is retiring after his 16th season in the league, and ahead of his final regular season game on Tuesday night, Budweiser released a tribute video honouring Dwyane's legacy and all the lives he's changed. Throughout this season, the Miami Heat guard has famously been swapping jerseys with players on opposing teams to commemorate his last season, but Budweiser surprised him with real-life apparel from five lives he's touched. Those people include: Andrea Ghersi, whose brother was one of the Parkland shooting victims and was buried in Dwyane's Miami Heat jersey; a woman who Dwyane took shopping after her house burned down; a woman who Dwyane supported with a college scholarship; and a man from a poor Miami neighbourhood. Dwyane's mother, Jolinda Wade, was also featured in the video, where she praised him for standing by her side when she was in jail and supporting her every step of the way in her sobriety. In 2008, Dwyane bought his mother a church called the Temple of Praise, and it changed her life forever. "You don't even understand the lives that you changed," Jolinda said. "I am more proud of the man you have become than the basketball player. You are bigger than basketball." Jolinda and the others featured in the video are just a few of the people that Dwyane has so selflessly influenced. He's done a lot of sweating during his time in the NBA, but right now, Dwyane has our tear ducts dripping. Watch the video ahead, and see how others are reacting to this touching tribute. So much bigger than basketball. Man, this captures so much of what @DwyaneWade means to people. I'm also bawling. Watch and RT #OneLastDance https://t.co/2dFUS2424n— Gabrielle Union (@itsgabrielleu) April 9, 2019 4 / 16 This might be the most powerful commercial I've ever seen. I showed it to my two sons already to spread the message of humanity. @DwyaneWade should be proud of the legacy he's leaving, and @budweiserusa for capturing it. https://t.co/9iCabCENlm— Sam Amick (@sam_amick) April 9, 2019 5 / 16 This is so powerful. Can’t stop crying this morning. This is everything. @DwyaneWade I can say with no hesitation, I one day want to be like you. pic.twitter.com/4eHKxuqQjo— Bakari Sellers (@Bakari_Sellers) April 9, 2019 6 / 16 Well this made me cry all the tears this morning. This is what sports should be about. This is why we all should be @DwyaneWade fans. His impact on and off the floor is special. pic.twitter.com/NAGoJBhsUD— Oliver Maroney (@OMaroneyNBA) April 9, 2019 9 / 16 Man oh man. I laugh every time people say “they’re just athletes/entertainers.” They’re much more than that. They’re role models. They’re heroes. They’re community leaders. @DwyaneWade is much more than that. #Salute #Respect #ContinuedSuccess https://t.co/uDrJJQHcAI— BeeDubb (@Bee_Dubb1) April 9, 2019 10 / 16 Welp, it’s official. I’ve now started my day with tears streaming down my face thanks to this.... 🙄😭 https://t.co/N9qO9ATSBE— Joshua Medcalf (@JoshuaMedcalf) April 9, 2019 11 / 16 I always like sharing stuff like this because we so often only hear negative stories about professional athletes. D-Wade came from absolutely nothing, if you don’t know his story look it up. These 5 individuals (including his mother) had their lives changed thanks to him. https://t.co/G0HqMHkadk— Brandon Ramsey (@Coach_BRamsey) April 9, 2019 12 / 16 This is awesome. Probably should've waited until after work to watch, though. A bit teary eyed now. Especially since I"m from Parkland and Guac's sister was in it. Dwayne's mom was killin' me. Geez....gotta go blow my nose.— Carol Reynolds (@CarolReynolds2) April 9, 2019 13 / 16 Years later, it was his response to ParklandI don’t believe in divine intervention, but @DwyaneWade being sent back to South Florida just days before the tragedy was...specialThe way he helped individuals & the community heal was something only he could doThank you, Dwyane pic.twitter.com/y1O7xsG8Hu— jeremy taché (@jeremytache) April 9, 2019 14 / 16 My heart is full of joy watching this. I am so incredibly proud of my little sister Tamara. She graduated from @MarquetteU on scholarship funded by @DwyaneWade. Thank you to #DWade for the work he has done and the lives he has changed! ✊🏼 https://t.co/iTSgiqfF9t— Jonathan (@Primoshonky) April 9, 2019 15 / 16 I got a chance to do a gift exchange with @DwyaneWade following our game back in February and got the opportunity to tell him about everything: from being a kid at his mom’s church who was lost to now living my dream in the league and how it all tied to him. thanks again, 3. ⚡️ pic.twitter.com/Yhmbdb8n0a— Devin Dismang (@dismayne) April 9, 2019 16 / 16 Twitter ReactionsAthletesDwyane WadeViral Videos
