Mark Hamill Introducing Himself to Gal Gadot at the Oscars

Mark Hamill Innocently Introducing Himself to Gal Gadot at the Oscars Is Just So Effing Pure

The 2018 Oscars were chock-full of epic celebrity moments (see: Jennifer Lawrence being a seat-hurdling, wine-toting legend and Jennifer Garner fuelling a hilarious meme with her facial expression), but one of the purest moments of them all involved two of our favourite actors: Gal Gadot and Mark Hamill.

Both of the heroic stars were involved in Jimmy Kimmel's elaborate mid-Oscars scheme, along with Armie Hammer, Emily Blunt, Lupita Nyong'o, and a handful of other actors. Just seconds before the group of A-listers waltzed into a theatre full of unsuspecting moviegoers, ready to hand-deliver them candy and snacks (some via a hot dog cannon), Mark innocently introduced himself to Gal while standing behind the Wonder Woman actress.

You could almost see the wheels turning in the Star Wars actor's head as he stood behind Gal until he finally blurted out, "Hi Gal, Mark Hamill, nice to meet you" and shook her hand with the biggest smile planted on his face. Well played, Mark — well played. Their short but sweet interaction only lasted a few seconds and could have been missed if you were too busy being distracted by Lupita's jaw-dropping beauty or Margot Robbie's gorgeous dress, but you can relive it again and again in the video above, around the 2:15 mark.

Needless to say, sci-fi and comic book fans everywhere were utterly delighted that Wonder Woman and Luke Skywalker met up in real life, with many calling their interaction "the highlight of the Oscars" and totally "adorable." How on earth were these two badasses not friends already?!
