Brie Larson's Hot Ones Interview Somehow Seemed Less Painful Than Her Met Gala Story
"Honestly, nothing matters right now because this is so spicy," Brie Larson said halfway through her virtual appearance on First We Feast's Hot Ones — and that, dear reader, is when you know it's going to be a good one. The actress recently tried various hot sauces while speaking with host Sean Evans about the launch of her YouTube channel, being a Star Wars superfan, and the now-iconic 2017 Met Gala mirror selfie she never expected to be in.
Early on in the interview, Brie comfortably spoke about her reasons for joining the YouTube community. "I always felt like if I revealed too much about myself that then people wouldn't be able to believe me as other characters. That's been something that I've always held really close to my chest. So, this is kind of a way of trying to break out of that line of thought," she said. "I guess, deep down I've been too scared to be so vulnerable on the internet."
As things got spicier, Brie decided to spill the details on how she ended up in that aforementioned mirror selfie alongside the likes of Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Diddy, and more. "So, the Met Ball bathroom is pretty notorious. It's where all the cool kids hang out," Brie said, before adding that she typically avoided the bathroom because people smoke in there and she has asthma. That particularly year, however, she decided to brave the bathroom and just get in and out as quickly as possible. Of course, right as she was washing her hands, the crowd rushed in.
"I am truly here only because I washed my hands."
"I was being squished as I was washing my hands and I couldn't move. I just kept muttering to myself, 'Oh no. Oh no. Oh no. I'm not supposed to be here,'" Brie said. "One of the people from the photo turned to me and was like, 'You need to chill and just be here.'" She added, "I smiled in a way that was like, I'm panicked because I don't know if I'm in this or not. I am truly here only because I washed my hands."
