The music world is mourning the death of Takeoff, who died at age 28 in the early hours of 1 Nov. The rapper, born Kirshnik Khari Ball, was one-third of the rap group Migos, alongside his family members Quavo and Offset. The Georgia native also collaborated with artists like Travis Scott, Birdman, Gucci Mane, Pop Smoke, Roddy Rich, DJ Khaled, Calvin Harris, John Legend, and Snoop Dogg. After news of his death broke, his friends and colleagues shared remembrances and tributes to the rap superstar and the legacy he leaves behind.

Migos, formed in 2008, first broke out with their 2013 song "Versace." The group's first no. 1 single was 2016's "Bad and Boujee," which features Lil Uzi Vert. In total, Migos released four albums together, most recently 2021's "Culture III." Takeoff released his solo album, "The Last Rocket," in 2018, and on 7 Oct., he and Quavo released their collaborative album, "Only Built for Infinity Links," as the duo Unc & Phew. The music video for their song "Messy" was released on 31 Oct.
