Maya Hawke Teases Dad Ethan Hawke For "Trying" to Flirt With Rihanna in 2015
Maya Hawke shared a playful critique of her dad Ethan Hawke's flirting skills after he recalled a failed attempt to flirt with Rihanna at a basketball game in 2015. During an interview with Variety posted on 5 Sept., Ethan revealed he was trying to flirt with Rihanna while attending the NBA All-Star Game with his then-13-year-old son, Levon Hawke, in February 2015. "I've been caught by the paparazzi openly flirting with Rihanna," he said before Maya teasingly interjected with, "Openly trying to [flirt]." "Yeah, trying to flirt, and so that's been to the family shame," he joked.
In paparazzi photos from the game, Ethan is seen reclining in his seat while he and Rihanna have a seemingly impassioned discussion. It's unclear what the pair talked about, but it must have been interesting considering Ethan swapped seats with Levon to have a one-on-one chat with the Grammy winner.
While most of us are still reeling from Rihanna's outstanding Super Bowl LVII halftime show, her innovative pregnancy announcement, and her vibrant performance outfit, it seems Ethan has more personal matters to reflect on. Though she didn't miss an opportunity to poke fun at her dad's attempts to charm the singer, Maya clarified that it was actually a moment of "family pride" to see her father shoot his shot with the star.
After seven years of marriage to his ex-wife Uma Thurman, with whom he shares Maya and Levon, Ethan and Thurman split in 2005. Ethan later married Ryan Hawke in 2008.
