Melissa McCarthy's 13-Year-Old Daughter Makes a Rare Appearance at "The Little Mermaid" Premiere
Melissa McCarthy had two very special dates for the premiere of "The Little Mermaid" on 8 May. With the comedy icon were her husband, Ben Falcone, and their youngest daughter, Georgette Falcone, who turned 13 this March. It was a rare public appearance for the teen as Melissa and Ben have usually kept their kids out of the spotlight. The pair also share a daughter, Vivian, who turned 16 on May 5. Vivian also attended the premiere, but did not pose for photos.
At the Monday night movie premiere, Melissa wore a blue gown with ruffles and fringing, evoking the underwater splendour of her character Ursula, the iconically villainous half-woman, half-octopus. Georgette and Ben, meanwhile, matched each other in black, with Georgette's corset giving her dress an appropriately swash-buckling vibe.
Melissa, 52, recently opened up about parenting her two teens. She confessed to People in April that she struggles to be laid-back with her daughters, explaining, "I'm really like, 'What are you doing? Do you want to go over your homework?' Ben is much more, 'Let them figure it out.' I'm like, 'Or I could empty their schoolbag and line up all their pencils.' I call it helping. Other people would probably say, 'You're meddling.' They're not babies anymore, so if I could put them in a BabyBjörn and still carry my teenagers around, I would. But I'd like to also think I'm fun."
The actor also talked about how she and Ben, 49, try to help the girls navigate the pressures of social media, as she tries to remind them that it "is not real." "I keep saying this is smoke and mirrors and entertainment, which is fine," the "Gilmore Girls" star explained of her philosophy. "I've said, 'It's as if somebody takes a character I've played and assumes that's the real me.' But that's an ongoing fistfight that concerns me all the time."
