Paul Mescal Celebrates His Olivier Award Win in Same Way We End a Friday Night
Paul Mescal just proved he's a man after our own heart as he headed to McDonald's after winning at the Olivier Awards on 2 April. The "Aftersun" star, 27, scooped the gong for best actor for his performance as Stanley Kowalski in the new stage show of Tennessee Williams's play, "A Streetcar Named Desire" at the Royal Albert Hall, but, thankfully, he's maintained that down-to-eath demeanour we've grown to love.
Looking extremely dapper in a Gucci suit, shirt, and tie on the Olivier Awards red carpet the actor said he was "standing on the shoulders of the immense talent of so many other people" as he collected his award. But it was his actions after the ceremony that caught our attention. Rather than popping open an expensive bottle of champagne, or rubbing shoulders with A-list celebrities, the Irish star chose to end the night with a good, old McDonald's.
His sister, singer Nell Mescal, posted brilliant snaps on her Instagram story, in which she shared the hilariously real moment which saw her brother collecting his order, with his award in tow. And, of course, we've spent way too much time this morning trying to decide whether he's a Big Mac kinda guy or partial to a McNugget meal. Either way, his night ended in pretty much the same way as Friday nights up and down the country.
We weren't the only ones who could see Mescal's antics lining up with our own lives, as his fans quickly commented on the pictures after they surfaced on Twitter. "He's just like me fr," one fan wrote, while another added: "He's so real for that." Another said, "Honestly, king sh*t". We couldn't agree more.
Despite Mescal's McDonald's run, there was food served at the ceremony. Yet we all know that craving after a night out, right? He might be an Oscar nominee, Olivier award winner, and an immensely talented celebrity, but sometimes only a Quarter Pounder will do.
