May 4, 2017: The palace announces Prince Philip will retire from royal duties
After 70 years, the palace announced Prince Philip is retiring from royal duties. Formally known as the Duke of Edinburgh, Philip has been a full-fledged royal since marrying Queen Elizabeth in 1947. It's been quite the ride, and the Duke finally decided to take it easy at 96 years old.
