Rihanna's cover story in Vogue's November issue was especially meaningful as she opened up about her social justice efforts. She revealed to the magazine that she turned down performing at the 2020 Super Bowl Halftime Show to support Colin Kaepernick, who protested police brutality and racism during the National Anthem at his games in 2016.
"I couldn't dare do that," she told the magazine. "For what? Who gains from that? Not my people. I just couldn't be a sellout. I couldn't be an enabler. There's things within that organisation that I do not agree with at all, and I was not about to go and be of service to them in any way."
