Prince Louis just ticked a major royal milestone off his list after a weekend of festivities for King Charles III's coronation. On 8 May, the 5-year-old joined his parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton, and his older siblings, Prince George, 9, and Princess Charlotte, 8, for a surprise appearance at this year's Big Help Out event — a day when people were encouraged to volunteer in their communities — marking his first-ever official royal engagement.

Previously, Prince Louis has participated in a handful of outings with his royal family — including Trooping the Colour and Easter mass — but, according to Buckingham Palace, this is the first time he's done royal duties with his parents, People reported.

For the occasion, Prince Louis volunteered with his family and the 3rd Upton Scout Group in Slough. Specifically, he helped renovate the Scout's hut by sanding and painting. Photographers also captured moments of him steering a wheelbarrow and helping his father use an excavator. Scout helper Anne Edwards told People of his painting skills, "Louis was very enthusiastic and did a good job. He was determined to do it all by himself, and he managed to dig the whole paintbrush in, flick it up, and managed to cover quite a few of us in paint!"

There were also times for Prince Louis and his family to have some fun during the volunteer initiative, as they took turns shooting a bow and arrow and even gathered around a fire to enjoy some toasted marshmallows.

Prince Louis's royal engagement comes after the busy weekend of Charles's crowning ceremony on Saturday. Later that day, he and his family joined the king and Queen Camilla on the Palace's balcony to greet well-wishers during the royal occasion. He sat out of the coronation concert with other members of the royal family, though, where they watched acts like Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and more perform.
