Serena Williams Spends Quality Time With Daughter Olympia in NYC Ahead of US Open

Serena Williams and her daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian, are squeezing in some quality time together before the tennis champ participates in this year's US Open. On Aug. 23, Williams shared a sweet snap on Instagram of her and her 4-year-old on a dinner date in New York City, the same day her episode of Meghan Markle's "Archetypes" podcast was released. "NY Date nights @olympiaohanian," she captioned the post.

The mommy-daughter duo's latest outing comes after they, along with Williams's husband, Alexis Ohanian, vacationed in Greece, following up their family tour of the United Kingdom. It's likely that Olympia and Ohanian will be on hand to cheer on Williams during the US Open, just as they did at the 2020 tournament.

Williams is set to play in her final tennis match this month, as she formally announced her retirement from the sport in her September 2022 cover story with Vogue. According to the world-renowned athlete, her pivot will allow her to focus on growing her family and tend to her venture capital firm, Serena Ventures. "I have never liked the word retirement. It doesn't feel like a modern word to me," Williams said, adding that she's "evolving away from tennis, toward other things that are important to me."

Of her performance at the upcoming US Open, Williams admittedly told Vogue that she doesn't know "if I will be ready to win New York. But I'm going to try." She currently has 23 grand slam titles under her belt, but if she wins her final tournament, Williams will tie up Margaret Court's record of 24 victories. The US Open kicks off in NYC on Aug. 29 and wraps up on Sept. 11.
