According to a senior military source who spoke to "The Sunday Times," Anne is set to replace Harry as the new captain general of the Royal Marines. "Princess Anne has already done a lot with us over the years," the source told the publication. "She's really well connected to the navy and, as a consequence, has a soft spot for the Royal Marines. We are very comfortable with her, especially given her outstanding sporting background." If Anne is appointed captain general, she'll be the first woman to ever occupy the position.
As a marine veteran himself, Harry was appointed the role in 2017 after Prince Philip stepped down from all of his royal duties. Philip held the position for 64 years before it was passed down to Harry.
