Just when we thought the Downton Abbey film was never going to happen, the big screen adaptation of the popular period series was officially given the green light in June 2017. Now, we have our first look at what's sure to be a stunning feature.
The period drama ended its sixth season in 2015, and ever since, the production team behind the show had been hinting that a feature film would eventually make its way to screens. Maggie Smith, Michelle Dockery, Hugh Bonneville, and a handful of others are set to reprise their roles as members of the Crawley family. Although we don't see any of the principal cast in the brief teaser trailer, above, we do catch a glimpse of the sprawling Crawley residence, an unidentified man riding a motorcycle up to the home, the house keepers milling about outside, and a parade presumably celebrating war heroes.
It's not much to go on, but since the film doesn't hit cinemas until September 2019, we have plenty of time to theorise.
