Sandra Oh Just Made History with Her Emmy Nomination for Killing Eve

Sandra Oh just made Emmy awards history. On Thursday morning, the actress became the first Asian actor to be nominated for the Best Actress in a Drama category for her role as MI6 agent Eve Polastri on BBC America's Killing Eve.

This is Oh's first lead role nomination, though she received five Best Supporting Actress nominations during her 10-year run as Dr. Christina Yang on the ABC medical drama Grey's Anatomy. In the 70 years since the Emmy Awards began, Oh, who is Korean-Canadian, is the first person of Asian descent to be nominated in the category. She is nominated alongside Elisabeth Moss for The Handmaid's Tale, Claire Foy for The Crown, Keri Russell for The Americans, Evan Rachel Wood for Westworld, and Tatiana Maslany for Orphan Black.

If you haven't yet basked in the glory of Killing Eve, it's an amazing mystery drama that sees Oh's titular Eve becoming obsessed with the dangerous female assassin (The White Princess's Jodie Comer) she's tasked with hunting down. The show has already been renewed for season two, so watch the first season on BBC America before the Emmys air on Sept. 17!
