Sometimes violence is the answer. At least that's what PJ and Josie — played by Rachel Sennott and "The Bear" star Ayo Edebiri — think in their new movie "Bottoms." In the film, PJ and Josie are ready to change the way they're seen at school (and finally have sex before graduation), so they decide to start a fight club to reel in their two cheerleader crushes (played by Kaia Gerber and Havana Rose Liu). The first trailer for the R-rated high school comedy was released on June 6.

"Bottoms" is directed by "Shiva Baby" director Emma Seligman from a screenplay by her and Sennott, and it features music by Charli XCX and Leo Birenberg. The movie's cast also includes NFL veteran Marshawn Lynch as one of the girls' teachers who agrees to be the advisor for their fight club. "Bottoms" premiered at SXSW in March and POPSUGAR attended a screening of the movie at Newfest on June 3.

Gerber — who's more famous for her work as a model — has said she's particularly excited for people to see a more humourous side of her in the comedy. "When you see me looking angry on a runway, you wouldn't assume there's much of a sense of humour in there," she told Elle in January. "My character is nothing like me as a person at all, but I do think people will respond well to the jokes that are being made. It's very of its time and very meta."

As for the fight club component, she emphasised that the action is serious. "We're throwing punches. We got to do stunt training, which was very cool," she told Elle. "I think people are like, 'Oh, cute. A little girly fight club.' No, it's a real fight club."

As for Edebiri, "Bottoms" is another piece of the major summer she's about to have. She'll return as Sydney in "The Bear" season two this June and stars in Sundance breakout "Theatre Camp" this July.

Ahead, here's everything we know about "Bottoms" so far.
