Watch the Trailer For Ava DuVernay's DMZ Series

Rosario Dawson Gears Up For a Civil War in Ava DuVernay's "DMZ"

Ava DuVernay continues her foray into the DC comics world with a new HBO Max series from her and creator Roberto Patino titled "DMZ." The four-part limited series, based on the acclaimed graphic novel of the same name, follows lone mother Alma Ortega (Rosario Dawson) on her harrowing quest to find her missing son in the middle of a fictional American civil war and a "dangerous and distorted Manhattan."

"DMZ"'s trailer arrived on March 7, giving us a first look at the dystopian sci-fi series in a setting that looks reminiscent of Will Smith's "I Am Legend." The clip opens with a voice-over of Dawson's character explaining how she lost her son amid the war's evacuation, and she doesn't hesitate to suit up for battle as she fights to get him back. "My only pursuit here is my son," Dawson says in the trailer.

The clip also teases some of the show's cast, which includes Benjamin Bratt, Hoon Lee, Freddy Miyares, Jordan Preston Carter, and Venus Ariel. Also in the series are Rutina Wesley, Nora Dunn, Jade Wu, Rey Gallegos, Mamie Gummer, Agam Darshi, Juani Feliz, and Henry G. Sanders. "DMZ" premieres on HBO Max on Thursday, March 17.
