Lisa Frankenstein Movie Cast

Cole Sprouse and Kathryn Newton Set to Star in Zelda Williams's "Lisa Frankenstein"

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - DECEMBER 02: Zelda Williams attends the 9th Annual

Zelda Williams, daughter of the late Robin Williams, is set to make her directorial debut, and she's starting off strong with a "zomb-com." Deadline reports her upcoming film, "Lisa Frankenstein," will feature "Riverdale" star Cole Sprouse and Kathryn Newton, who's best known for her performance in "Big Little Lies." The movie will also reunite writer Diablo Cody and producer Mason Novick, who previously collaborated on films such as "Jennifer's Body" and "Juno."

Set to start filming this summer, the movie will centre on "an unpopular high schooler who accidentally re-animates a handsome Victorian corpse during a lightning storm and starts to rebuild him into the man of her dreams using the broken tanning bed in her garage." Williams tweeted about how grateful she was to be able to start production on what she described as "the most bonkers, wonderful zombie script I've ever read." She added, "I had three films fall apart before this, because movies often do. It was discourageing, to say the least. But the fact this one survived and THRIVED to be my first? A f*king gift ♥️."

There is no set release date as of yet for "Lisa Frankenstein," though Sprouse still has to wrap up the final season of "Riverdale," and Newton is appearing in Marvel's upcoming "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania." But knowing the kind of heart and humour the Williams family is famous for, this should be a film well worth the anticipation.
