We Are Not Like Them by Christine Pride and Jo Piazza is a stirring novel about the lifelong friendship between two women, Riley, who is Black, and Jen, who is white. Their relationship is rocked when Jen's police officer husband is involved in the shooting of an unarmed Black man, and journalist Riley is assigned to cover the story.
