An adaptation of the 1928 play of the same name by R.C. Sherriff, "Journey's End" takes place during World War I, and centres on Second Lieutenant James Raleigh (Butterfield) who is stationed in the trenches in Northern France. While on the battlefield, Raleigh encounters the horror of war as he prepares for an oncoming German invasion. Alongside actors Paul Bettany, Sam Clafin, and Stephen Graham, Butterfield delivers an amazing performance in this dramatic war film.
