J.R. Dawson's "The First Bright Thing" features a world full of literal magic amid the dangers of a looming war. Rin is the ringmaster of the Circus of the Fantasticals, a troupe composed of beings with magical capabilities called Sparks, and following the devastation of World War I, Rin hopes to offer the public a night of good fun during their upcoming performance.
