Tembe Denton-Hurst's "Homebodies" follows Mickey Hayward, a writer who feels like she's on her way to achieving her dreams. She lives in New York City, has a writing job at a reputable media company, and has a loving girlfriend waiting for her at home. When she's suddenly ousted from her job, and her open letter revealing instances of racism is met with silence from the media, Mickey returns to her hometown in Maryland to recoup. While she's home, Mickey's assumptions about her life are challenged as she falls back into the comforting ways of her old life, and when New York suddenly comes calling again, Mickey will have to make a choice about what kind of life she truly dreams of.
