Another Season of RuPaul's Drag Race UK Is Coming In September This Year

It feels like just yesterday that we were all glued to our screens, watching Lawrence Chaney take home the crown and trying (unsuccessfully) to get "UK Hun" unstuck from our heads, but the BBC have already begun advertising the start of RuPaul's Drag Race UK Season 3 — and it's coming to our TV screens faster than you can utter "the cheek, the nerve, the gall, the audacity, and the gumption".

On 20 July, BBC released a teaser video for the upcoming series. Set to the soundtrack of RuPaul's song "Category Is", the 11 second clip shows the new queens' beautifully manicured hands reaching through a hole. "Release the Queens!" the video states, followed by "Autumn 2021", and on 18 August, BBC confirmed that the show will air sometime in September.

The fact that there is going to be a third season of Drag Race UK isn't breaking news. RuPaul confirmed it when the season two announcement was made earlier this year, explaining that "currently casting season three with the best and the brightest Great Britain has to offer." Mama Ru also mentioned it during season two, after the queens returned from a seventh-month long break in filming due to the coronavirus pandemic. In one of the most heartbreaking moments of last season, Veronica Green tested positive for COVID-19 and was unable to return to the competition. RuPaul gave Veronica an open invitation to compete in the third season; which has now finally been confirmed.
