Sabrina Carpenter's Soulful Cover of Harry Styles’s "Late Night Talking" Is Dreamy
Sabrina Carpenter's Radio 1 Live Lounge performance was anything but Nonsense. The 23-year-old hit the prestigious studios on 23 Feb. to give a seductive rendition of Harry Styles's hit track, "Late Night Talking". Wearing a leather bomber jacket, skinny jeans, and knee-high boots, the blonde singer opted to hitch up in Harry's House for her cover, and her soulful take on the pop song took chilled-out vocal acrobatics to new heights.
Carpenter also sang her single, "Nonsense" while in the Live Lounge and fans were quick to comment on the performances on social media. "@BBCR1 getting the amazing @SabrinaAnnLynn on the live lounge is what I needed as now I have a massive smile on my face hearing her amazing talent," one tweeted. Another added: "put the sabrina carpenter live lounge on at work you're welcome colleagues".
Styles has been a regular in the Live Lounge, both performing himself and as a cover choice for many artists. Lizzo covered "Adore You" in 2020, while The xx's Romy performed a mashup of Stormzy's "Firebabe" with Styles's "As It Was" in January. Over the years, we've heard many exciting covers from musicians on Radio 1, including Paramore's rendition of Drake's "Passionfruit," Lil Nas X's version of Dolly Parton's "Jolene", and Ed Sheeran's take on Christina Aguilera's "Dirrty." And now Carpenter's cover can be added to the history books.
While the US singer is in London, she's also expressed her desire to go on a date with "Chicken Shop Date"'s Amelia Dimoldengerg. Carpenter posted a photo on Instagram wearing a red miniskirt and matching top with "loyal" written across, outside some traditional phone boxes with the caption, "call me @ameliadimz".
