Taylor Swift is giving her fans even more material to parse through. A little over a month after the release of her 10th studio album, "Midnights," Searchlight Pictures announced the singer-songwriter will be directing her first feature-length film for the production company. Swift also wrote the original script.

"Taylor is a once in a generation artist and storyteller," Searchlight Pictures Presidents David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield said in a joint statement shared with Variety on 9 Dec. "It is a genuine joy and privilege to collaborate with her as she embarks on this exciting and new creative journey."

Though this will be her first feature, this won't mark Swift's first time behind the camera: she previously directed "All Too Well: The Short Film," which accompanied her rerecorded album "Red (Taylor's Version)" in 2021. The 14-minute film starred Sadie Sink and Dylan O'Brien and went on to win various MTV Video Music Awards and American Music Awards. It's also up for best music video at the upcoming Grammys.

The year before, Swift directed "Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions," a Disney+ documentary about the making of her eighth studio album of the same name. Swift has also directed several of her own music videos, including "Mine" in 2010 and, more recently, "Anti-Hero" and "Bejeweled" off "Midnights."

Swift's list of acting credits, on the other hand, is much smaller. To date, she's had cameos in "Valentine's Day," "The Giver," "Cats," and "Amsterdam." It's unclear if Swift will also star in her currently untitled feature film, and casting announcements have not yet been made.
