Here's How Each Character's Story Ends on You Season 3, Because It's a Wild Ride

Neighbourhood good guy Gil (Mackenzie Astin) openly admits to Love that he and his wife are antivaxxers, which is how his kids got baby Henry sick with the measles. Understandably frustrated, Love knocks him out. Joe and Love try to get some dirt on Gil so they can let him out of the basement cage in exchange for his silence, but when they dig up something even he didn't know, Gil dies by suicide. As a "two birds, one stone" solution, Love and Joe frame him for Natalie's murder and write a suicide-note confession.

Sweet, adorable Theo (Dylan Arnold) is just the kid next door who falls in love with Love. Alas, Love is convinced her soulmate is Joe, and when Theo finds out about her dark dealings in murder, Love knocks him out in the basement of the bakery. However, when Joe comes to deal with the body, he finds Theo still alive. In a shocking twist, Joes drives him to the hospital, ensuring that Theo survives his injuries.

Natalie's husband, Matthew (Scott Speedman), seems likely to become a victim at some point. Unconvinced that his wife had an affair, Matthew is determined to find the real killer — by any means necessary — and gets dangerously close to crossing Love and Joe in his quest. Still, he manages to survive the season and is reunited with Theo in the final episode.

As the main object of Joe's affection this season, Marienne (Tati Gabrielle) seems almost certain to suffer an untimely death. The librarian with a troubled past falls for Joe, and Joe falls hard right back. But after a close call with Love in the final episode, she and her daughter move to Paris, where Marienne was born. Now that You has been greenlit for a season four, we're not holding our breath that Marienne survives another round.

The Madre Linda mum you love to hate actually makes it out of this season alive. Despite Love keeping Sherry (Shalita Grant) and her husband, Cary (Travis Van Winkle), trapped in a cage in the basement of the bakery throughout the final episodes, she is eventually freed.

And if Sherry makes it out alive, it only stands to reason that Cary does, too. The two of them find a key Love had hidden in the cage and free themselves. They go on to take advantage of the experience by building a new brand around it — because of course, influencers are gonna influence. They even do a TED Talk and write a book!

Unsurprisingly, Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) survives Madre Linda, despite getting into scrapes with, well, everyone in town. He has some close calls this season, and we really thought Love (Victoria Pedretti) might take him out in the end. However, all she wanted to do was paralyse him and make him listen to her so she could fix their marriage. In the finale, he gallivants off to start a new life. Again.

Oh, Love. There's only room for one murderer in the You universe, which of course means Joe had to kill his wife. Though Love thinks she has the upper hand by paralysing Joe, he's one step ahead and already has an antidote ready. He ends up poisoning her and leaving her dead in their kitchen. He writes a suicide note from Love and makes it look like she also killed him. He then escapes and sets the house on fire, seemingly sealing Love's fate.
