Ab Windows Are the Latest Dress Trend Celebrities Are Loving
From extreme hip cleavage to kitschy bum cutouts, designers and stars alike have become increasingly more creative when it comes to showing skin. The ab window is another daring trend that's recently surfaced, with celebrities stepping out in dresses featuring standout cutouts to highlight their core. The style is characterised by its singular "window" into the abs, often designed in a diamond shape.
While the aptly placed stomach cutout isn't new, more stars have been experimenting with the trend as of late. At the Acne Studios show during Paris Fashion Week in September, Rosalía wore a black dress by the designer featuring a sizeable cutout spotlighting her abs. Similarly, in July, Nicole Kidman wore a black Saint Laurent gown with a romantic rosette detail and diamond-shaped ab window at the London premiere of "Special Ops: Lioness."
Coco Jones took on a different interpretation of the style at the BET Awards in June, wearing a sequinned red dress with an oval-shaped cutout that put her abs on display. The likes of Lori Harvey, Hailey Bieber, and Zoë Kravitz have also tried the trend for size, both on and off the red carpet.
While comparable, the ab window is not to be confused with the boob-window trend, which bares one's cleavage in the form of openings around the bust. The latter is also having a moment in Hollywood — stars like Florence Pugh, Chloë Bailey, and Sydney Sweeney have been spotted flaunting various chest cutouts in the past few months.
