Florence Pugh Wows in a Sheer Sparkly Gown at the Venice Film Festival

Venice Film Festival Red Carpet Looks

The 79th Venice Film Festival is currently underway, and the fashions are front and centre. Filmmakers, actors, models, and pop stars have descended on the Venetian streets to celebrate the best in international cinematic excellence. It's hard to talk about red carpet gowns without mentioning Florence Pugh. The "Don't Worry Darling" actress arrived in style wearing a stunning black off-the-shoulder dress with puff sleeves and tulle skirt.

Styled by Rebecca Corbin-Murray, Pugh's ensemble was from the Valentino Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 22-22 show and stole the show at the film's premiere. Adorned with silver glitter, the sheer, boned fabric was worn over a pair of high-waist knickers and cascaded in a train behind her. The fabric split at the front to showcase her statement black heels with feathered ankle straps. The look was accessorised with Tiffany & Co. jewellery. Makeup artist Alex Babsky created a beautifully soft look using Valentino products, while Peter Lux was the hair guru who expertly flicked Pugh's blonde bob into a style worthy of Hollywood icons from bygone eras.

Another star who has been catching out attention is actress and Gucci muse Jodie Turner-Smith who glided on the red carpet for "The Whale" premiere in a custom dramatic caped gown by Harbison, complete with puff sleeves, scooped neckline and sequinned bandeau bralet. She elevated the look further with Bulgari diamond jewellery and black opera gloves.

And its not the only showstopping ensemble that Turner-Smith has treated us to. She previously wowed in a lilac cutout slip dress by Et Ochs. She also turned heads at the "Bardo" premiere wearing an abstract art-inspired gown by Christopher John Rogers. The gown in question is Look 33 from Rogers's Collection 009 and was inspired by the art of late abstract pioneer Sam Gilliam. Styled by Wayman & Micah, Jodie paired the colourful racerback twill gown with a dazzling diamond choker and complimenting drop earrings. The "Anne Boylen" star has been quite the one to watch this week. From a stunning black sequinned Gucci gown with satin neon green opera gloves and a pink lace dress, also by Gucci, with towering white lace-up boots, she's been dominating red carpet after red carpet. Another memorable look she wore is a sheer red Versace dress with a coordinating Brandon Blackwood bag and contrasting green Kendall Miles plush heels.

Other stars in attendance include Olivia Wilde who rocked a sunshine yellow Gucci Gown, Tessa Thompson who stole the show in a blue archival Armani Privé look, Cate Blanchett, Simone Ashley, and Timothée Chalamet. The Venice Film Festival, considered the oldest festival in the world, will run until 10 Sept. As many acclaimed international films continue to make their debuts, we're excited to see more of red carpet looks.
