A native of Cincinnati, goalkeeper Aubrey Kingsbury currently plays for the Washington Spirit. She received her first call-up to the national team in 2019, but 2023 will be her first World Cup appearance.

After starting her professional career playing for a season in France, Casey Murphy returned to play in the US, first for Reign FC, and now for North Carolina Courage. She made her first official appearance for the USWNT in 2021.

Goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher is a two-time Olympian and was on both the 2015 and 2019 World Cup rosters for the US. In 2014, she was named the 2014 NWSL Goalkeeper of the Year after setting a league record with 106 saves. She currently plays for the Chicago Red Stars.

Alana Cook has been a leading player for the US since her years as a youth star, captaining both the United States U17s and the U23s in her early career. She was first called up to the US senior national team in 2019. She was also technically eligible to play for England due to her father's nationality, but chose to stick with the USWNT.

Currently playing for the North Carolina Courage, Emily Fox received her first USWNT call-up in 2018. Prior to being traded to the Courage, she was one of the team captains for Racing Louisville FC in 2022.

In 2015, Crystal Dunn won both the NWSL Most Valuable Player and the Golden Boot awards, making her the youngest player to win both awards. She was part of the 2019 USWNT at the World Cup, as well as the 2020 Olympics squad. At the Olympics, she was the only American player to start in all six matches, and she played all but 16 minutes of the tournament.

Born and raised in San Jose, California, Naomi Girma played for the United States U17, U19, and U20 teams, even captaining the latter. She received her first senior call-up in 2019, but had to bow out due to injury, and she eventually made her USWNT team debut in 2022. While playing pro football, she's also pursuing her master's degree in management science and engineering.

Sofia Huerta launched her international career not with the USWNT, but playing for Mexico from 2012 to 2014. In 2017, she officially switched her affiliation to the US, and she currently plays professionally for OL Reign in Seattle. She's one of only two players to have represented both the US and Mexico in international women's football.

Kelley O'Hara is one of the USWNT's longtime, decorated veterans. This will be her fourth World Cup, after playing in 2011, 2015, and 2019. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, she was one of just three players for the U.S. that played every minute of the women's football tournament en route to a gold medal.

Currently playing for OL Reign, Emily Sonnett is headed to her second World Cup, following her appearance in 2019. She was also part of the 2020 Olympic squad that took home the bronze medal in Tokyo.

Savannah DeMelo is a little earlier in her career than some of her teammates, but she's already making a splash. In 2022, she was the fourth overall pick in the NWSL Draft and plays now for Racing Louisville. She was first called up to the USWNT in late 2022 but did not feature at the time.

Since first being called up to the national team in 2013, Julie Ertz has made over 110 international appearances with the USWNT. The two-time Olympian has also appeared twice at the World Cup, and she has twice been named U.S. Football Female Player of the Year.

With over 120 appearances with the USWNT and counting, Lindsey Horan is a reliable member of the national squad. In 2018, she was named NWSL MVP, and she played on both the 2019 World Cup team and the 2020 Olympic squad. Her Instagram also shows that she's a proud dog mom to Sir Ferguson Horan, a French bulldog.

Rose Lavelle has represented the US at both the World Cup (in 2019) and the Olympics (in 2020), even scoring a goal en route to the USWNT's Olympic bronze. She's made over 80 appearances with the national team, and she often shares adorable images of her bulldog, Wilma Jean Wrinkles, on her social media.

Kristie Mewis is currently a midfielder for Gotham FC, and has been called up to the USWNT on and off since 2013. Although she was part of World Cup teams in younger divisions, this will be her first World Cup appearance at the top level. She's also from a football family — her sister, Sam Mewis, has also been on the USWNT over the past several years.

In 2016, Sanchez became the first player in American football to play in multiple world cups in the same year when she captained the US team at the 2016 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup and played in the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. She currently plays for the Washington Spirit and was first called up to the senior USWNT in 2016.

Currently a player with the Washington Spirit, Andi Sullivan was first called up to the senior USWNT in 2016. Football is a family activity for Sullivan — both her mother and sister have competed in football, too!

Alex Morgan already has had a highly decorated career in football, with three Olympic appearances (including a gold medal at the 2012 tournament and a bronze from 2020) and three World Cups (2011, 2015, and 2019). From 2018 to 2020, she served as a co-captain of the USWNT.

The three-time Olympian and three-time World Cup team member is equally memorable off the field as she is on it, gaining a reputation as a champion activist for LGBTQ+ rights, women's rights (including the USWNT fight for pay equity), and other important causes.

Trinity Rodman made history in 2021, when, at age 18, she became the youngest drafted player in NWSL history. In 2022, Rodman was signed by the Washington Spirit to a four-year deal worth over $1.1 million — the most expensive deal in NWSL history, according to the Washington Post.

Sophia Smith is one of the young rising stars of the USWNT. In 2020, when she played for the national team in a friendly international match against the Netherlands, she became the first player born in the 2000s to play in an official senior match for the USWNT.

Alyssa Thompson is the youngest member of the 2023 World Cup squad. She was first called up to the senior team in 2022, after winning gold in the 2022 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship, and she debuted at a friendly against England in October of that year. She'll be the first teenager to represent the United States at a World Cup since 1995.
