Wellness Splurges to Save Up for in 2020

I’m Budgeting For Wellness Splurges in 2020 — Here’s What’s on My List

As POPSUGAR editors, we independently select and write about stuff we love and think you'll like too. If you buy a product we have recommended, we may receive affiliate commission, which in turn supports our work.

Analysing my self-care spending habits gives me serious anxiety — which is exactly why I've put off budgeting these miscellaneous purchases for so long. This year, however, I'm committed to thoughtfully treating myself with items I can actually benefit from because, do I really need another black Zara sweater? (The answer is no.) I'll be saving my splurges for wellness-related items that will improve my physical fitness, support my mental health, and boost my overall mood, from fitness-inspired trips to at-home massagers and more.

It's been said that writing something down is the first step to making it happen, so I decided to take that logic to my wellness wish list. Keep scrolling for seven items worthy of indulgence.

Daily Harvest Meals

In 2020, I'm saying "so long!" to $15-lunches that only taste "meh." In an effort to save money while still fueling my body with needed nutrition, I'm investing in a build-your-own Daily Harvest meal plan. The Daily Harvest 9-Cup Weekly Plan ($70 for nine cups per week) allows you to choose from healthy, pre-portioned smoothies, harvest bowls, soups, bites, oat bowls, chia bowls, and even lattes.

Women’s Nike React Metcon Training Shoe

After an Instagram poll to my friends about the best sneakers for weightlifting, I've concluded that Nike Metcon Sneakers ($150) are the way to go, thanks to their stability, cushioning, and breathable fabric.

Theragun G3

Bye bye, back pain! Instead of trying to fit a sports massage into my schedule, I'm saving up for one of these babies — the Theragun G3 ($399). While undeniably pricey, the powerful tool includes four different attachments so you can give each muscle the specific massage it needs.

Facial massage is one of my favourite hacks for easing a tension headache. The Skin Gym Facial Trio Set ($48) features a full-size jade roller, a gua sha tool, and a travel-size facial roller — perfect for dealing with inevitable flight delays or pressing deadlines.

Wellness-Inspired Trips

The most indulgent item on my list, for sure, but worth it. This year, I'd love to save up and travel with wellness in mind, which is why I've been eyeing up Equinox Explore's active travel experiences. The club has six trips planned for 2020 — a few of note including running in Florence, cycling through the Hudson Valley, climbing Mt. Toubkal, and surfing and yoga in Costa Rica.

If my budget simply doesn't allow (most trips ring in around $3,000), I'm also exploring local hotels and inns that have spas or host wellness weekends.
