Whether you're a parent or not, it's no secret that the live-action remake of Disney's The Lion King is one of the most highly anticipated movies of the Summer for just about everyone. The star-studded, and I mean studded cast — including Beyoncé (Nala), Donald Glover (Simba), James Earl Jones (Mufasa), Seth Rogen (Pumbaa), and Billy Eichner (Timon), just to name a few — proves that Disney couldn't have come up with a better roster for its reboot. Couple that with a killer soundtrack, incredible CGI effects, and a story that closely mimics the original, and you have the perfect upgrade on a beloved Disney classic.

This movie is entirely geared toward families — just like the original! — however, just as in the 1994 cartoon, there are some potentially upsetting plot points parents should be wary of if they are bringing little ones to the theatre. With that said, there are also oodles of amazing life lessons and conversation starters that will guarantee your entire squad will be chatting about the movie long after you leave your seats. Keep reading to get the lowdown before your entire brood heads off to see The Lion King when it officially hits theatres on July 19.
