Anne Hathaway's Response to Having More Kids: "I Didn't Mean to Blink My Thoughts Out"
Anne Hathaway is very undecided about having more kids. In an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live she opened up about life with her two boys, 4-year-old Jonathan and 11-month-old Jack, as well what she's been doing to cope amid the pandemic.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to blink my thoughts out," she said. "Yeah, I don't know. I don't know . . . like some minutes I'm like, 'Yes, absolutely,' and some minutes the world scares me too much. And I think I've got two healthy ones and that feels really great."
After Jimmy asked her if she felt guilty bringing little ones into the world given the current situation, Anne emphasised that now's the time to work for a better future. "Now that you've heaped it on me I do," she joked. "I think we're all worried about [the future.] It's a slim window and it's a closing window but it still feels like we have that opportunity, that we can give them a better future than the worst, worst, worst prognosis, but, you know, it's now. It's happening. It's that time."
Anne also admitted that she very much started to lose it while she was home with the kids amid the pandemic, going as far as covering certain parts of her home in tape as a makeshift safety precaution.
"Some minutes I'm like, 'Yes, absolutely,' and some minutes the world scares me too much."
"I don't know what I was thinking," she said through laughter. "You know those little magical thoughts that you have that kind of keep you going, keep your anxiety at bay? And you're just like, 'As long as I do this thing, everything's gonna be fine?' So, I decided that it would keep my family safe if I put tape around all of our light switches and our door knobs . . . these are the most oft-touched surfaces. And we'll just remember to wash our hands and put Lysol on them."
Naturally, once Anne's husband Adam got wind of her little project, she realised how much she had hilariously spiraled. "He saw what I'd been working on and he's just like, 'What? Why? Why?' and I explained the reason to him . . . and then it was so embarrassing because they did nothing. And then they started to peel and we just had sad tape coming off of everything for months."
Later in the interview, the mom of two shared that while her son, Jonathan, is aware that she has a job, he's not exactly clear on what she does every day. "We showed him Rio recently and he didn't notice that one of the birds sounded like me," she said. "So he knows that Mommy goes to work." Before leaving for another project, Anne pulled Jonathan aside to prepare him for her departure. "He stopped and he looked me really deep in my eyes and he goes, 'Mommy, are you going to work at the library?'"
Anne doesn't feel the need to correct him at the moment. "We went with it, and I was like, 'Yes, yes. Mommy is going to work at the library,'" she said. "So he thinks I'm a librarian, which is a form of storytelling, so we're just kind of going with that until further notice."
