Dwyane Wade Will Always Support His Daughter Zaya

Dwyane Wade Says His Support For Daughter Who Is Transgender May Look "Different Than Another Family"

Dwyane Wade has his children's backs no matter what. In a recent interview, the 38-year-old father opened up further about his 12-year-old daughter Zaya recently coming out as transgender, how he has nothing but support for her, and how he wants all of his kids to "see their full potential."

"As I'm raising my kids, you just try to put them in the best situations to be able to succeed in life," he explained. "How I do that, and how me and my wife decide to do that, may be different than another family, but we want them to know there's always unconditional love, that [there] will always be support. We've got you, no matter what. And we see you. I see you how you see you."

In his new ESPN documentary, D. Wade: Life Unexpected, which premiered on Feb. 23, he spoke on Zaya coming to terms with her gender identity. "I don't put anything on [my kids] because of maybe the worldly view of how I'm 'supposed' to look at someone or what I think someone should be, because if I did that, then I wouldn't be where I'm at today," he said, according to People. "I think I'm lucky to have them and I think they're lucky to have me."
