Cherry Jelly-Art Cake
Last night's semifinal of The Great British Bake Off awarded Hermine the title of star baker for the second week in a row during an exciting, three-part soft cake challenge. Her winning creation was the incredible jelly-art cake she made featuring an intricate red poppy-in-gelatin design that was layered on top of chocolate and raspberry mousse. The cake was so mesmerising that judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith had to ask it be taken away because it was just too delicious. The episode was so good that it inspired us find some jelly cakes and recipes that are equally impressive.
These 3D-art jelly cakes are credited to have originated in Mexico, where intricate creations with flowers and fish ponds continue to be a staple dessert at parties. The cake trend has more recently been picked up on Instagram and Tik Tok, where bakers like Nünchi, Gelatin Art Market, and user Petrichoro's dreamy desserts have gone viral.
