The Food

Hear me out. Yes, you can get pretty much whatever you want on the coasts, I get it. But sometimes a buffalo burger in a small down in South Dakota (Custer, SD, to be exact) tastes better than one in a big city.

The truth is, the food is authentic to the culture in these states. While the big cities have a lot to choose from, these towns stick to their roots when it comes to preparation and flavours. Many of these meals, too, are traditional and harken back to the early days of the country's expansion, the Gold Rush era, and more.
