Does Hailey Bieber's Favourite Foundation Live Up to the Hype?

There's good skin, and then there's Hailey Bieber's skin. The Rhode Beauty founder has become the poster child for glowy goals over the last few months, single-handedly turning everything she touches into "glazed doughnut" gold. As one of the many people who eat up any beauty secret she shares, it should come as no surprise that I stayed up late one night watching her "Inside My Bag" video for Harper's Bazaar on repeat. From her favourite fragrance to the go-to palette she totes around, I found myself nodding in agreement about how much I loved quite a few of the products that she mentioned. Then she got to her foundation.

While she opted out of naming the product to not butcher the French pronunciation, I recognised the bottle immediately as the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation (£47). Bieber says it helps her achieve a more natural, dewy skin finish, which fits perfectly into her "less is more" approach to beauty. I didn't hear much else after that, as I was busy looking up the foundation that promised that Hailey Bieber glow. I did manage to get my hands on it, so read ahead to see my thoughts on the product.

About the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation

  • The foundation comes in 35 shades for fair to deep skin tones.
  • The formula offers light to medium coverage with a radiant finish.
  • The bottle is made of glass and comes with a pump applicator.
  • The formula is made of 40 percent water and has skin-care ingredients like glycerin and meadowfoam-seed oil.

What I Like About the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation

Aside from the packageing, which feels compact yet luxe thanks to the glass bottle and pump, the actual formula felt nice and lightweight on my skin when applied. It wasn't hydrating in the same way a moisturiser might be, but it felt like I was putting on my favourite toner.

For a water-based formula, I was also surprised at how well this worked with my oily skin. I'm not sure if it's because it was already meant to be a more radiant finish, but after about two to three hours of wear, I didn't feel like my skin looked as greasy as it has with some other formulas on the market — and this was with no oil-controlling primer.

How to Use the MAC Studio Radiance Serum Powered Foundation

I applied this foundation like I would any other: I pumped a dollop of the liquid onto the back of my hand and then used a makeup brush to blend it out. This time, I chose my Makeup by Mario Surreal Foundation F4 Brush (£45). Then I finished with some concealer, powder, and bronzer, all of which layered on top of the formula beautifully.

What to Consider Before Trying the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation

I have come to find that with most Chanel foundations, it's best to go one shade darker than you think you'll need. As I was blending out the pigment, I noticed that it looked a bit more yellow than it appeared the bottle. In the end, the finish is sheer enough that it's not too obvious. Still, because the 35 shades available don't seem to cover a wide range of undertones, I highly recommend implementing this hack when shopping online or going into a physical location to ensure the best match.

Also, if you're not a fan of lightweight foundations, you'll want to steer clear of this one. I personally don't mind it for a quick, everyday look simply because of how comfortable it feels on, but for a night out or an on-camera moment, I would definitely reach for something more full-coverage to cover up any acne and hyperpigmentation.

Where Is the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation Available?
